Management Team

Matthew Hobbs, Managing Director

After working within the area of International and Economic Business Development for 18 years including 4 spent encouraging Foreign Direct Investment into the UK from Canada, Matt Hobbs has developed a deep understanding of international business development. During his career he has acquired a diversified skill set including Government Relations, project management, motivational leadership and strategic planning. In all his roles he has consistently met or exceeded targets. The decision to set up his own business – UK-CAN Business International - reflects his desire to use his skills and experience as part of a more tailor-made and responsive offering.

In addition to Canada Matt possesses a detailed knowledge of doing business in and with the UK, India, Turkey and the USA.

Alongside his international business development work Matt has designed, managed and delivered several major events and activities including trade missions, exhibitions, seminars and other promotional events. His marketing strategies have included all forms of techniques such as direct mailing, print advertising, bill boards and radio ads. More recently he has proactively used social media such as LinkedIn (over 2000 connections), Twitter, blogs, podcasts and Flickr.

Melania Motta, Director Operations

An excellent linguist with fluency in three languages Melania has worked in a number of business fields that make her an excellent addition to the UK-CAN Business International team.

Melania worked in the UK and France in the event planning, conferencing and hospitality industries which allowed her to develop superb organizational skills. In North America she has worked in the area of international business development running direct marketing campaigns, events and visit programmes. She brings this extensive experience of inside sales together with a variety of office management skills into the company.

In addition to directing operations for UK-CAN Business International Melania has her own translation company.
